Airport Hosts Aviation Awareness Day

On Saturday, August 8, University Park Airport hosted Aviation Awareness Day. Visitors learned about the field of aviation through a variety of activities, both in the air and on the ground including discovery flights with Tech Aviation and SnapFlight, tours of aircraft and gliders, radio-controlled aircraft displays, and fire and hazmat equipment.

As part of the event, members of Boy Scout Troop 31 and other local troops had the opportunity to earn aviation merit badges by participating in a day of learning that included tours of the airport, control tower, and aircraft displays as well as studying aeronautical charts and the mechanics of flight.

Sponsorship for Aviation Awareness Day was provided by the Centre County Airport Authority, Avis, Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter #1327, Enterprise Holdings, GAI Consultants, Inc., Mead and Hunt, Pizza Mia, The Shaner Group, and the University Park Airport.
